Philosophy

Apple Tree is a center based program for children with special needs.  Our goal is to assist children in the overall development of age appropriate skills within the framework of a nurturing play based environment.

Our programs, are administered in small group play-based settings, and are comprehensive and include speech/language therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, music therapy, sensory integration, cognitive development therapy, behavior management, and social/academic skill development.

We also provide a wide range of individual services that include developmental evaluation, physical-occupational-speech-music therapy, as well as infant stimulation.  Services are provided in the center as well as in home.

Within the framework of the group program we offer a daily Parent Training and Education support group.  We believe that the family is instrumental in the successful outcome of the child.  It is our desire to address the needs of the family, and to empower them to be an advocate for their child.

Development:  Encourage and develop programming that will help each child overcome challenges and conflicts at various stages of the life cycle, and enabling movement to the next developmental stage.

Intervention:  Enter a course of events or supportive programming so as to hinder or change the current course.

Education:  To provide a total educational system involving not only the child but the family and the entire circle of support.

Transition:  To help in the process of enabling children and their families to move from one stage of the life cycle to another.  To better include parents and children in progressing with the least amount of anxiety.

The D.I.E.T. philosophy encourages and supports the global approach to therapy and is the developmental prescription to success based on the needs of the individual child and their family.
